About Prestige Japan Time & Style Factory

Prestige Japan Co., Ltd. operates the furniture brand "Time & Style" and manufactures original products. They have showrooms in Tokyo, Osaka, Amsterdam (Netherlands), and Milan (Italy), and are promoting the concepts of each showroom as well as traditional Japanese culture and technology to the world.

This time we visited their own factory, "Time & Style Factory," located in Higashikawa, Hokkaido. Here, highly skilled craftsmen carefully manufacture each and every product, focusing on each material. The appeal of Time & Style Factory is that they create products that blend the traditional Japanese sense of beauty and spirit with European culture. Rather than mass production for the purpose of cutting costs, they manufacture only the amount of items ordered, creating products that can be used for over 100 years.

The logs used are broadleaf trees from Hokkaido. They aim to create high-quality products by hand so that customers can use the products for more than just the tree rings.

The purchased logs are dried outdoors for about a year and then in a dryer for about two months.

The reason for introducing the KRE wood working clamp

Since its establishment in 2008, Time & Style Factory has been using BESSEY clamps (KRE) sold by our company, and currently has over 100 units. When the company was established, they received advice from neighboring factories on the selection of tools and machines to be introduced, which led to the introduction of KRE. In addition, one of their employees is a member of the Japan National Skills Competition, and they said that they have seen BESSEY clamps at such international competitions, so they can use them with confidence.

What impressed me was how neatly and tidily the clamps and tools were kept in each workshop.

It can be crimped quicklyandhas a large crimping area, which allows for high crimping force.

The photo below shows the back of the cabinet being assembled. While the adhesive is drying, a massive 40 clamps are used to press the parts together. This process is a perfect combination of the experience and skills of the craftsmen and the performance of the KRE. The KRE has a large contact area with the material, making it less likely to get scratched and allowing for the application of a large, even force. It can also be used for a wide range of products, from large to small, as it can accommodate opening from 300mm to 2500mm.
