Furthermore, with the aim of differentiating themselves from other companies and increasing the added value of their manufacturing, they introduced paint drying equipment.

While orders for products destined for overseas markets had been increasing since 2018, production had been stagnant since around 2020 due to logistics problems caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. In order to increase sales under these circumstances, it was necessary to add further value to products for the domestic market.

They decided to introduce paint drying equipment with the aim of shortening delivery times and reducing costs by completing the painting process in-house, which had previously been outsourced to partner manufacturers.

We held thorough discussions before deciding to implement the system, and we considered specifications that would allow us to handle new projects as well.

When introducing a baking and drying oven

Normally, paint curing and drying took a full day (7 hours), but after introducing the baking oven, drying is now possible in about an hour, reducing the working time to about 1/7th. As a result, they have started receiving requests for painting-only projects.

Previously, we outsourced painting to partner manufacturers, but by consolidating the process in-house, we eliminated the need for scheduling. Furthermore, we can now complete all stages of production internally, resulting in shorter delivery times and improved quality control.

The ability to perform powder coating has led to an increase in projects that were previously uncommon, such as products where appearance is important or products that people touch (like handrails). By outsourcing painting work that was previously handled by a company in the Kansai region to Ando Kogyosho Co., Ltd., they have been able to reduce transportation costs for their suppliers, and they have told us that this has been beneficial for both their company and other companies.

Furthermore, because painting and drying can be completed indoors even in bad weather, they are now able to take on urgent jobs and projects they previously had to decline.

It has been reported that the system has been operating without any problems since its introduction in 2021, up to March 2026.
Furthermore, although the equipment stopped during the earthquake, it was confirmed that the safety device detected the shaking and initiated an emergency shutdown, which was praised as further enhancing confidence in the safety of the equipment.

Ando Kogyosho Co., Ltd. also places a strong emphasis on education. While advancing the automation of processes using machinery, they believe that the knowledge, experience, and skills of the people who operate these machines are also important, and they actively encourage employees to obtain skills certifications and qualifications.

Regarding painting, since almost every order is custom-made, they say that even after five years, they are still constantly experimenting and learning. We will continue to do our best to support them in the future.
