Currently, the company has specialized departments in-house, including design, synthetic resins, lead, can manufacturing, and construction, and is involved in the manufacture and delivery of plant piping and tanks for metal working, chemical plants, and other facilities.

Reason for introducing the TB-60 pipe bender

Meien Co., Ltd. has worked on many plant facilities up to now, but the opportunity to introduce a pipe bender came when they received a request to manufacture handrails to be attached to a tank.

Initially, they continued to outsource production as before, but in the actual field, several issues in terms of both quality and speed became apparent, such as delays in delivery dates, readjustments to specifications, and even poor yields. They concluded that "in order to meet their own quality standards, it would be more reliable to have a system that allows them to complete the work in-house," and began to seriously consider in-house production.

At first, the company proposed to manufacture the pipe bender themselves, but after taking into consideration the precision and ease of use of the equipment, as well as the cost and time required for development, it was decided to go ahead and purchase a ready-made product. Even from a long-term capital investment perspective, it was determined that introducing reliable machinery would be more certain, and would ultimately lead to improved production efficiency and delivery deadlines.

Against this background, we decided to introduce a pipe bender in order to further strengthen our in-house integrated system.

After the introduction of the pipe bender,the in-house pipe bending processhas made great progress. We now have a system in place that allows pipe bending whenever staff have free time, and we can now efficiently carry out production between work, which has made the overall flow of work smoother.The machine is also easy to operate, even for new staff, so it has become easier to divide work with accurate instructions, which has also contributed greatly to improving efficiency on site.

Currently, they process 500 to 600 sets of pipes per month. By always having a certain number of stocks, they have realized a system that allows them to flexibly respond to sudden production requests. In addition, although the plating process itself is outsourced, they have improved cost performance by ordering in bulk of 100 pieces. This has also reduced material loss and the waste of re-arranging.
